Authors start out with three strikes against them.

  • Most publishers will only work through a book agent. You must find a book agent.

  • Book agents are only interested if your book has enormous potential; due to agents earnings of 10% commission of the authors commission. The authors commission is only 8-10% of the wholesale price of the book, thus agents commission is around 1% of the full wholesale price.

  • Unless you are popular, have a high profile or are an authority in your field of study, then both agents and publishers are not interested. Truth is, most authors, after all the hard work, do not make money.
